Who loves craft beer and local produce? I know I do and most of you reading and following my journey probably do too. The best place to find both things in one place is The Crafty Cow Bottle Shop in Penn Hill, Poole. Think bottle shop, deli and bar in a very cosy environment.
Last year husband and wife duo, Mike and Jules started a mobile bar, which they love doing and have had a fantastic run of events this summer. Alongside this they also investigated opening a bottle shop business and late 2017 the dream of this seemed to come alive. With finding a small premise in Penn Hill they managed to open The Crafty Cow Bottle Shop in late March 2018.
The concept comes from London where a lot of craft beer bottle shops are opening regularly, and the pair thought it would be something different to introduce to Poole.
They have only been opened for 4 months and still finding their feet. They have already started getting regular customers come in weekly, which is excellent. Open 4 days a week (Wed & Thurs 12pm-8pm and Fri & Sat 12pm-9pm), it’s an ideal place to stop off and have a taster while you explore the products on offer.
They sell a range of craft beers from the UK, wines, local gin, local produce and cheeses. They offer a small selection of hampers, great for birthday and Christmas presents. The one thing that stands out for me is their Growlers. At £8 you can choose which beer you would like from the 4 taps on offer and once it’s all finished go back and refill it. Great for parties, events and just for yourself if you’d prefer. Head over to their website where you can see what else they do, https://www.thecraftycowbar.com/.
I’m looking forward to visiting again soon to pick up some locally crafted beers and to see what new and exciting things this little bottle shop has in store.
