Camden – Day Trip

There are many things to do in London on a day trip, but as it was my birthday yesterday there was only one place to go to celebrate. Camden!

You can be whoever you want to be in Camden. Anything goes and no one cares. Completely different to a lot of other parts of London and completely why I chose the best people to take with me, Jackie and Abi.

I love walking down the street and seeing the big signs outside of the shops, like the shoes and the dress on the building, you don’t get that in many places. Local artists (I’m talking rappers, magicians etc.) stop you in the street to sample their work. The smell of street food feels the air.

I had four main places I wanted to visit yesterday and one of which was sadly closed and therefore no ska band t-shirts where brought. Here is my low down on the places you MUST visit in Camden.

Oli Baba’s
Halloumi. Fries. Your find the best halloumi fries in London in the Camden KERB. Oli Baba’s launched their cheesy strips of goodness back in 2015. At a standard price of £7 you will received a generous amount of deep fried crispy halloumi strips topped with za’atar yoghurt, pomegranate molasses and pomegranate seeds. A match made in heaven. If your lucky enough to hold a Camden Card, you can also receive a discounted price.20190709_1413485604737689390226867.jpg

Yorkshire Burrito
Another great find in the Camden KERB. A British classic made easier to eat. Yes please! With the option of Chicken, Beef or Cauliflower, a giant Yorkshire pudding is filled with the filling of your choice, sage and onion stuffing, roast potatoes and seasonal green. it’s then wrapped like a burrito and ready to eat. The best tasty, easy to eat roast dinner on the move!

Half Hitch
Everyone who knows me, knows how much I love gin. Half Hitch is in my top 5 gins. Distilled with Malawian black tea and bergamot, it’s a gin like no other. Definitely worth a stop in West Yard just next to Camden KERB. Have a try, take a look at Smithy the copper pot and why not treat yourself to a beautiful bottle!

Modfather
MOD inspired clothing for both men and women. The go to place for the Mods, skinheads, scooter boys and rude boys. I don’t where I fall into these categories but I know for sure that if you step foot in there your need to go prepared with your wallet. Take a step back to the 1960’s and see what fits in with your look.

The Camden Watch Co.
It’s only been a few days since these guys opened their new flagship store in The Stables in Camden Market. It’s the best of their stores I’ve been in so far and women working the store was fantastic. I’ve debated buying a Camden watch for about a year and could never bring myself to do it. I love the history, the vibe and the way the staff describe each and everyone of their products. It’s companies like this that made me want to blog in the first place.

The Hawley Arms
My favourite pub in Camden.Your find it along Castlehaven Road. Great music, excellent choice of drinks and excellent food. what more could you ask for? Your find the staff welcoming, a mixture of people and a true old London pub vibe.
