Who loves a good burger? Who has ever heard of Meat Liquor? Well if you answered yes to the first one but no to the second, 1) your missing out and 2) what are you waiting for??
Meat Liquor own several bars/diners around the UK, including Brighton, London and Leeds. Each restaurant has it’s own little quirks, which adds to the great atmosphere these places create. Your find most of these restaurants hidden of the beaten track, but your never find them empty unless you go at opening time.
I’ve now been to three of their sites. Covent Garden, Kings Cross and Angel. All three are completely different in their own unique way. With old 90’s music, great cocktails and even better food there is so many reasons to go and check this place out.
This week I visited the Kings Cross restaurant which opened in 2017. You’ll find this little gem just behind the tube station, along a side round, but you won’t miss it with is Meat Liquor sign alight. The inside is very much like an American diner, loud and full of energy.
Lets get down to the food, that is after all why your all reading this right? There is so much to choose from that I always have to narrow it down to at least three options and then just say one when the waitress/waiter comes to take my order. They have a great range of vegetarian options including halloumi, mock-chicken strips, and black bean fries. There are not main places like Meat Liquor that have such a range of vegetarian options. For myself though I opt for either chicken or beef. Sadly to say I’m yet to try a chicken burger from here as the beef burgers are so damn good!
The Bacon Cheese ££ – 2x beef patties, bacon patty, cheese, red onions, pickles, lettuce, french mustard and ketchup – Stacked high and full of flavour, this is one mean, meaty burger and I love it. If you like a bacon burger, then this one is the one for you.

Dead Hippie ££– 2x french mustard-fried beef patties, dead hippie sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and minced white onions – Heaven in a bun. It’s packed full of live and flavour. A bit messy, but then that adds to the fun, but maybe don’t choose it if your on a date.

Then there are the drinks. Always go for the cocktail menu, unless your a true beer / ale drinker then always go for a tin not from draught. Why? There are more to choose from, some local and a beer/ale for everyone. Anyway back to the cocktails. Myself being a gin drinker, the first thing I do and look for the cocktails containing such stuff. Meat Liquor have four fab gin cocktails on their menu – New Cross Negroni, Space Gin Smash, Yorkshire T and Renegade Soul. If these aren’t your thing then they have a range of Hardshakes and a excellent range of soft drinks too including Floats.

Yorkshire T ££ – Tea infused Bombay Sapphire, pink grapefruit juice, fresh lemon juice, topped with soda water – This little beauty is served in a large mug, designed for the cocktail itself. Who would of known tea would taste so nice in a cocktail? The lemon and grapefruit bring the tea infused gin to a beautiful sutle taste, perfect if your fancy a cuppa on a night out in the summer.

I would definitely recommend visiting a Meat Liquor bar / diner when your next in town. Click on the link here to find your closest restaurant https://meatliquor.com/.
