The Cider Pantry

Last Saturday a friend and I headed to The Cider Pantry in Burley. Your find this little cafe on the road going out of Burley, adjoined to The New Forest Cider.

Their website had said to book at weekends as it gets very busy, however as it was wet I thought I’d go on a whim and see if we’d get in. To my surprise there were a few tables left when we arrived.

I had been given a cream tea for two voucher for my birthday, so this was my main reason for visiting, and everyone knows how much I love a good cream tea. So alongside ording this we decided to order a proper lunch too.

I opted for the New Forest Spicy Rarebit which came with salad and a small pot of chutney. I’m not really a fan of Rarebit as I’m fussy with cheese and sometimes there is to much mustard in it, but alot of reviews had stated to try this. Well those reviews were correct and it is the best Rarebit I’ve ever tasted. You could either have it as a small appetite or with two pieces. I chose a small appetite which was plenty for me, as otherwise I would not have eaten my cream tea.

Our cream tea for two consisted of a pot of our chosen tea, which was a Jennier Lose Tea Earl Gray (nice and strong once left to brew for a bit), a small pot of jam, a pot clotted cream and two sultana and cider scones. The scones where served warm and were perfectly fluffy inside. Definitely somewhere to try if you love a cream tea like me!!

Prices are very reasonable and all produce is fresh. Something that I tend to now look for when visiting small countryside cafes.

After eating we HAD to visit the New Forest Shop where we sampled there Dry, Medium and Swert ciders. I brought myself some Medium and some fresh Apple Juice.
