I love Yorkshire Puddings and could eat them all day long. Savoury or sweet, yes you did hear that right. I have been known just to put Yorkshires in the oven and once cooked add ice-cream and caramel sauce.
I thought I’d share with you my Toad in the Hole recipe and just look at how amazing that yorkshire is!!!
It was fluffy like a cloud, yet crispy on the outside, just as you’d expect a great Yorkshire to be! It’s one of those comfort meals on a cosy autumn or winter evening or if you’re not in the mood for a roast. It’s also up to you if you want to have a classic sausage or make it vegetarian like I did.
Toad in Hole Recipe
- 140g plain flour
- 2 eggs
- 175ml semi skimmed milk
- 2 tbsp oil
- 6 / 8 Sausages of choice
1 – Place a roasting tin in the oven with the 2tbsp on oil to heat up at 200C. While this is heating, cook your sausages until brown either in a frying pan or in the oven, depending on preference.
2 – Mix together the flour and eggs in a bowl and add in the milk gradually whisk until a batter consistency, airy and thin enough to pour.
3 – Once the sausages are cooked take them out of the oven/pan and place into the oiled roasting tin. Pour over the batter mix and bake in the oven for 20 – 25 minutes until its golden brown.
4 -Take out the oven and leave to cool for 2 to 5 minutes.
5 – Serve with your favourite potatoes and veg, not forgetting gravy!!!
