Minterne House & Gardens is such a beautiful place with views of the rolling countryside, a terrace café which is perfect for a nice sunny weekend and stunning gardens to explore.

As a few of you who follow me on Instagram will know, I love visiting historical houses and gardens. They just feel me with so much joy, but also so much peace. With that in mind I was recently invited along to Minterne House & Gardens in Dorset, and weirdly I’d never heard of this place before.
Minterne House & Gardens is such a beautiful place with views of the rolling countryside, a terrace café which is perfect for a nice sunny weekend and stunning gardens to explore. The house itself looks gorgeous but sadly as far as I’m aware you can not explore this.
The Tea Terrace
The Tea Terrace looks out over the grounds and is a perfect location on a hot summer’s day for a cuppa and a slice of cake. Sadly, that is not what I opted for as I wanted to try something from their main menu as all the food sounded so lovely and seems to be homemade on site.
I ordered a latte and the Vegan Tomato Tart, served with an amazing seasonal salad. The tart looked homemade with puff pastry, cherry tomatoes, caramelised onions, and a balsamic glaze. Served hot, this was one of the best vegan tarts I’ve had (note, I’m not vegan, just fussy) the pastry was nice and flaky, the filling was not to overpowering, always a worry when there is lots of balsamic, and the side salad was completely different to your normal lettuce and cucumber.
If you are visiting here, I’d recommend not taking a packed lunch and trying something from their menu. All food and drinks are very reasonably priced and it’s always a bonus when it tastes fresh and made onsite.

The Gardens
The gardens are stunning, with waterfalls, beautiful flowers, many bridges and of course a fairy and dragon walk for the kids. I love a garden walk, and this has to be one of the best one’s I’ve visited. Would I pay the entrance fee to go round these again? Of course, I would. I also hear that at different times of the year the fairy trail changes and also, they may be doing a Christmas Lights walk.

Overall, I’d highly recommend giving this place a visit. It’s a beautiful place and truly is somewhere I’ll be looking to take the family and friends to visit.
