The best thing about visiting London has to be the number of food markets and food halls now on offer.
I love the London food scene and most of the time you’ll find me exploring a food market or food hall when I visit, so I’ve decided that I’d share where I ate in June this year. Nine times out of ten you will find me at either Borough Market or over at the Camden Kerb, however sometimes it’s nice to venture outside of these and find something different.
The Black Pig – Borough Market
Ok, so the first place is in Borough Market, but these guys can not be missed! I’ve wanted to try them since they went viral on TikTok last Christmas with their amazing Christmas sandwich. They have five options to choose from, all bar one containing their amazing slow roosted pork. I ordered the Honey Truffle Parmesan filled with slow roast pork shoulder, honey truffle mayo, fennel apple slaw & 30-month aged Parmesan. I have never tasted a sandwich like this. At first glance, it was so big I didn’t think I’d finish all of it. However, I was wrong! The bread was crispy on the outside but beautifully light and not stodgy. The pork was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. The honey truffle and the parmesan just give it another level, and then you have the crunch from the fresh slaw. Would I get this again? I’d be stupid not too!!! Yes, it was an £11 sandwich. Would I pay that normally? No. This, however, is a sandwich like no other, and I’d happily pay the price again.

Hash Hut – Seven Dails Market, Covent Garden
Who doesn’t love a Hash Brown? If you don’t you might as well jump to the next part. I was so happy when I stubbled across these guys when visiting Seven Dials Market for the first time. A pop up that does Hash Brown, and you can choose your toppings! I wasn’t able to choose, so I went with one of their specials of the day. I ordered the Mac N’ Cheese from the specials board, three massive hash browns, topped with homemade macaroni cheese, crispy onions, parmesan, and a choice of sauce. This set me back at £12.50, but it was so worth it and I couldn’t eat another thing after. The hash browns were beautifully crispy, the mac and cheese and creamy and cheesy and I topped mine with truffle mayo which just went beautifully. If you love a Hash Brown, get your arse down there!!

Mr Whippy in a Fish – China Town
To be honest I didn’t make a note of where I picked this up from, but I believe there are a few places in China Town which do these. A beautifully creamy Mr Whippy that reminded me of childhood, piped into a homemade fish shaped cone. Sadly, the cone was a bit too greasy for my liking and I just ate the ice-cream. I think this cost me around £3.5, which for an ice-cream now-a-days is average.
