Sunday Roast at the Ship in Distress

Last week we tried a place that I hadn’t even thought of trying for a Roast. The Ship in Distress is on the road into Mudeford, and I’ve driven past here many a time, but never thought about going it. From the outside it looks like a tiny local’s pub, but how wrong was I!

Firstly, the place is stunning and nothing I expected the staff very welcoming, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The menu was very reasonable and I’m not going to lie, we got a lot of food for the price. Even though this is one of the cheapest roasts I’ve recently come across do not let that fool you. The food was incredible, and I couldn’t fault anything.

The Roast

I ordered the Roast Chicken which at a fantastic £15.95 was definitely worth the price. A nice big plate of perfectly crispy skinned quarter chicken, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, creamed leeks, a perfect Yorkshire, and lots of gravy came out. I also ordered a side of cauliflower cheese because you can’t have a roast without it. Everything was cooked perfectly, and I actually could not finish everything on the plate.

This has to be up there with one of the best roast dinners I’ve had and I’ll be recommending this place to others.
