The Branksome Craft House – Review

*AD Gifted/PR Item*

If any of you used to visit the Brewhouse & Kitchen in the Triangle, Bournemouth or have walked past it recently you would have noticed that its name has changed and with this so has their whole concept. Early this month I was invited along with a few others to sample their new smashed burgers and cocktails.

On walking in, the place seems a lot more open and welcoming than before. The old fire pit and brewing equipment have been removed, making room for more seating. They have chilled music playing while the lights are dimmed, creating a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere.

The Drinks

Even though the name has changed The Branksome Craft House is still apart of the Brewhouse & Kitchen brand and therefore you can still expect to see the likes of Legend Craft Lager, Icon Craft Pilsner, and Entity Dry Pale 0.5%. They also have a range of guest beers which is normally my go to if I don’t order a pint of Legend.

They also have a fantastic new cocktail menu and offer two cocktails’ Mon-Thurs for £14. I aways seem to go for either a rum or gin based cocktails and I’m excited to see they do quite a few. I ordered a Mai Tai, a combination of Rum, Cointreau, lime, and bitters. A perfectly fruity cocktail to accompany great company and amazing food.

The Food

Yes, the menu has changed, and I think its for the better! Who doesn’t want to eat dirty burgers with a drink or two? We were treated to a feast of wings, tenders, and dirty waffle fries for the table to start including; The Big Cheese & Korean Hot dirty Waffle Fries, BBQ Sauce, Korean BBQ & Triple H Chicken Wings and Korean BBQ & Triple H Chicken Tenders. I really liked the Korean BBQ Chicken Tenders which were beautifully crunchy on the outside, but juicy and tender on the inside with a beautifully sticky spicy yet sweet sauce. I also loved The Big Cheese Dirty Waffle Fries, I think it was just a waffle fry smothered in beercheese sauce that hit the right spot for me.

For mains I ordered The Mac Daddy Burger. Two 3oz patties, mac n cheese, crispy onions, BBQ sauce & Jalapenos served with a side of crispy fries. It was dirty and yes; I don’t cut my burgers so I just dived straight in! The patties where still juicy but not dripping, it was cheesy, spicy, and well one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I honestly do not know how I managed to finish it.

Lastly, we were treated to one of each of their Sweet Belgium Waffles for the table to share which included; The Caramel One, The Chocolate One & The Berry One. My favourite out of the three was The Caramel One with caramel ice-cream, popcorn, and a Belgium waffle. Mind you I don’t think any of us managed to finish them off as we were so full.

There is one thing that really stands out for me on their menu and that is the Vegetarian options. Yes they cater for everyone, but this is the only spot in Bournemouth and actually the only burger joint I’ve come across in the UK so far that offer vegetarians the option to have the same toppings as the smashed patty burgers. Growing up with vegetarian parents it’s very hard to find somewhere that does just do a vegan burger or your bog standard moving mountains burger.

I want to say a massive thank you to The Branksome Craft House team who looked after us on the night and for the chefs for creating such an amazing feast. I definitely didn’t go home hungry!

If you are looking for a great smashed burger joint or just somewhere to have a nice drink with friends, I’d highly recommend. It’s staying on my list to work down the cocktail menu!
