Start of a New Journey

I was going to call this post, about me, but I guess your say the same as me, isn’t that just boring?

The title explains it all. This is a start of a new journey, a journey that I’d like everyone reading this to join me on.

Gin and Coast came about after I (Sherry) moved back to Dorset from the hustle and bustle of London. Don’t get me wrong, there are so many things to love about London, the culture, the food and the people. However, the long working days, being away from friends and family and not seeing a star in the sky got too much for me. Sometimes you must just follow your heart, and my heart was calling home. I didn’t just want to return home though and carry on as I had two years previously. I wanted to do something to enable me to enjoy what I missed and had taken for granted since the day I was born. I wanted to create a place to document what I love about Dorset and to let others see that there is more you where you live.

I know that Dorset has a big population of 744,041 people based on the 2011 census. There are many a local company in this area alone that produce local products from fudge, chutneys, jewellery and artwork. It’s exciting to see that there are so many people out there doing this and making or trying to make a living from it. But people are still flocking to the local supermarket and not supporting local.

I want to help companies get their name known and I want to help people like you to try new products and support local.
