The Donkey Sanctuary

In September this year I visted the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary while on a mini adventure to the Dorset side of Devon with my sister.

I never realised just how big this place is! Acres of land, hundreds of donkeys and lots to walk around and see. I was surprised to see that this beautiful place is free entry, which is always a bonus.

The Kitchen, the sanctuary’s restaurant, has a wide range on their menu. I opted for the Cheese and Chutney sandwich which came out freshly made with salad and crisps.

You have the option to have a guided tour or go it alone. We opted for go it alone. Walking around the grounds you can see the barns, memorial walls, have fun getting lost in a maze and walking the fields of donkeys.

No visit to a place like this is complete without visiting the gift shop where I purchased myself some crazy blue donkey socks.

If your in the Sidmouth area go and visit this beautiful place and remember it’s open 365 days of the year!!
