If you’re anything like me, you’ll know that self-care is often the first thing to get pushed aside. Between work, family life and the endless to-do list, taking time for myself usually feels like a luxury rather than a necessity.
So when I received a voucher for Lush HairLab Poole for Christmas, I promised myself I’d actually use it. Months later, I finally booked in for the Botanical Wash & Style experience, and I can honestly say it was one of the most relaxing afternoons I’ve had in a long time.
From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt completely different from a traditional salon. It was calm, welcoming and designed to help you slow down and switch off.
The experience started at the Botanical Bar, where I was invited to choose the botanicals that would be used throughout my treatment. I selected marshmallow root, chamomile and lavender – a combination that not only smelled incredible but also felt wonderfully relaxing. It was a lovely touch and made the whole experience feel much more personalised.
My stylist then selected products tailored specifically to my hair. The lineup included Wasabi Shan Kui Shampoo, Glory Conditioner, Super Milk Conditioning Hair Primer, Sea Spray Hair Mist and The Shield Protective Hair Serum.
As a long-time Lush fan, I loved seeing some familiar products being used, but what really stood out was how knowledgeable the team were. Every product had a purpose, and everything was chosen with my hair’s needs in mind.
Then came the highlight of the entire visit. The hair wash. Now, I know a hair wash doesn’t sound particularly exciting, but trust me when I say this was unlike any hair wash I’ve ever had before. Wrapped up under a weighted blanket while enjoying a relaxing scalp massage, I completely switched off from the outside world. For a little while there were no emails to answer, no notifications buzzing away and no mental checklist running through my head. Just relaxation.
It’s one of those experiences that’s difficult to explain until you’ve experienced it yourself.
After my treatment, my hair was styled into beautiful soft curls using the products chosen for me. It looked healthy, glossy and full of volume, but more importantly, I felt refreshed.
